Thailand is the perfect entry-level country if you are traveling to Southeast Asia for the first time. But even for advanced travelers to Asia, the country has a lot to offer.
The beaches are some of the best that Asia has to offer, and the cities have it all. Bangkok is just a mad city that everyone should have seen.
Quite different but not less great is Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand. The city is our adopted home for the winter and we like to come there every year.

Travel information for Thailand at a glance
On the west coast of Thailand lies the Andaman Sea and on the east coast you can go swimming in the Gulf of Thailand.
There are many ways to travel to Thailand. The most common is Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok. You can also fly directly to Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai or Pattaya.
Domestic flights and flights to other Southeast Asian countries are very cheap and also a popular option.
To enter Thailand you need a passport that is valid for at least 6 months. You only need a visa before your trip if you want to stay longer than 30 days in the country. Otherwise, you can just enter this way.
It is important that you can show a return or onward ticket. Although this is rarely controlled at the border, many airlines check this at check-in.
In Thailand you pay with Thai Baht (THB). 40 baht is about 1 euro. ATMs can be found in Thailand at every corner.

The answer to the question, which is the best travel time for Thailand, is not that easy.
The short version: November to February, so in the German winter months. In the German summer months (April to September) it is very hot in Thailand and heavy rain showers are not uncommon.
For the islands in the Gulf of Thailand (eg Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao) there are some other travel times. November and December is the monsoon season.
What we can tell you: In Thailand it is tropical warm. At an average temperature of 30 degrees, you will not feel so cold.
Thailand is a very cheap travel destination. Not without reason Thailand is one of the most popular travel destinations for backpackers.
The great thing about Thailand is that there is something for every need, for every taste and above all for every purse. You can very well eat very cheap, but also very good very expensive.
You can book for 10 to 20 euros a simple hut on the beach or a very basic hotel in Bangkok. For about 50 euros the night, but you get a very good middle class hotel, for which you at comparable locations in other countries a lot of money on the table.
